The "rent in NY where people can pass the price down to their kids" refers to rent-controlled and rent-stabilized apartments, especially those inherited by family, offering extremely low, stable rents, though new tenants can't usually get them directly, but the existing tenant's immediate family (spouse, adult children, or parents) may qualify for succession rights to keep the apartment and its low rent, a rare opportunity in NYC's high-cost market.

We need to implement this everywhere. I have been at my apartment 2 years this year and I just got my third rent hike letter for $100. Thats 300.00 already. I don't want to move but want the freedom to if I want to. I don't want a lease. What if I realize I live in a place where toxic chemicals are present in the water?

The infamous Love Canal disaster in Niagara Falls, NY, where Hooker Chemical Company buried over 20,000 tons of toxic waste in an abandoned canal, leading to severe health issues (birth defects, miscarriages, cancers) in the 1970s, forcing evacuations, and spurring the creation of the U.S. Superfund program to clean hazardous waste sites. The chemicals, including dioxin, seeped into homes, causing a major environmental crisis.

Its great to see people doing something about the drug crisis because I sometimes wonder if there is a movement behind drug addiction to not only sell drugs to people but to have a reason to constantly gouge people out of their money.

If we started with rent caps where you get a single price on move in and it stays at that price till you move out regardless of lease would it be a start in controlling inflation? If you think it through the cost of the smaller things has to stay down to allow the landlords to turn a profit. Like food the cost stays down when the producer has smaller costs. What kept the cost down in the earlier years of the US? Maybe that deal up there in the starting of this post?

We all want to make more so we can live more like the rich. We need to look at these points where the group can unite (group of landlords and tenants) and fight to keep the prices of the goods they need down (rent control and because we need these same goods) or the extra money we make when we get a raise will get soaked up every time we get one.
